The Quails
Quail breeding
The most common types of quail are the Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica), the corn quail (Coturnix coturnix), and the Chinese quail (Coturnix chinensis).
THE ELIEL FARM commonly uses the Japanese breed for its beauty and size. The Japanese quail is the domestic breed used for consuming its eggs and meat. Adult weight varies between 350 and 450g.
Japanese quail raised in buildings or cages are very sensitive to humidity. The cages are closed to protect them from the rain and the interns. Given its ability to fly away, the cages must not leave holes for their flight out of the cages. To protect against soil moisture, it is possible to place branches in the breeding building to allow them to hold on.
The duration of quail breeding at THE ELIEL FARM is 60 days from which egg-laying begins. Quail eggs are highly prized and recommended because they contain little cholesterol and are rich in proteins, vitamins, minerals, iron and phosphorus.
We purchase our day-old chicks from suppliers and transport them to our farms.
Once in the building, the chicks are heated and the entire breeding process implemented by THE ELIEL FARM is followed with the greatest rigor.
The decline in egg laying leads to the sale of quails. We then move on to a fattening phase to obtain large quails intended for sale.
